Angler (AOM) of the Month for August
Saltwater - John Hill submitted a 28 1/4 inch Red Fish caught August 9th on the Gulf.
Freshwater - No submission to date.
To submit your fish, send a picture of you holding the fish on a ruler for saltwater and a picture of you holding the fish on a scale for freshwater. Saltwater fish are judged by length and freshwater are judged by weight. Please send your submissions to me at WeekiWacheeAnglersSecretary@gmail.com

Thunder Deep Sea Gag Grouper Fishing Trips
Friday, September 4, 2026 and Thursday, September 24, 2026
Details: Friday, September 4 is full but there are 6 spots available for Thursday September 24. The cost is $90.00 for members. Contact Mark Dwyer at 718-313-7022 to get on the roster.

2026 Weeki Wachee Anglers Gag Grouper Tournament
Dates: Runs through the entirety of the 2026 Grouper Season (proposed Sept 1st - October 1st)
Location: Fishing allowed anywhere on the west coast of Florida. Must remain within 50 miles of shore.
Entry Fee: $20 per person
Pay Out: 60/30/10 split (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place)
Rules:
1. Must be caught on hook and line. No spearfishing allowed.
2. Must be a member of Weeki Wachee Anglers Club to enter
a) Non-members can sign up for the tournament if they join the club and pay their dues and tournament entry fee before the start of the Grouper Season.
3. Must provide a picture of the grouper on a ruler in order to qualify.
4. Must send the entry picture via email to wwanglingtournamentdirector@gmail.com before midnight of the last day of grouper season.
a) Your email must include your full name, the length measurement of the fish in inches, and the picture of the fish on a ruler.
b) Multiple entries are allowed per person however, individuals can only win one prize (1st, 2nd, or 3rd Place).
5. Charter trips, personal vessels, and land-based fishing are all allowed.
6. Entry fee must be paid by Venmo or cash to the tournament director before Grouper Season starts. Payment description should include “Anglers full name - Grouper Tournament”.
a) Cash: (Preferred) Accepted at any Club meetings or events.
b) Venmo: Corder-McMurtrey (DO NOT send a venmo to the club venmo, it is currently locked up).
Note: In the event the tournament director suspects fowl play for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place entries (i.e. speared Grouper, incorrect measurement, etc.) it will be determined by the board of directors whether or not to disqualify the entry.
Bowl 360 Strike City Spring Hill, Bowling Event
Date and Time: Wednesday, August 19 at 5:30 PM
Location: Bowl 360 Strike City, Spring Hill – 3544 Mariner Blvd. Spring Hill.
Details: Cost is $20.00 per person, includes shoes. Food and beverages are on your own. Proceeds will go toward the 2027 Kids Fishing Clinic. Monthly Picnic (Sweet Dessert Brunch)
Date and Time: Saturday August 22, 2026 at 9:00 AM
Location: Linda Pedersen Park, Shelter #2 - 6400 Shoal Line Blvd., Spring Hill, FL

Kayak Event
Date and Time: Saturday August 22, 2026 immediately after the brunch
Location: Linda Pedersen Park, Kayak Launch Pad near Shelter #2 - 6400 Shoal Line Blvd., Spring Hill, FL
Details: Bring your kayak to join the group in a kayaking adventure immediately after the brunch. We will launch off at the Jenkins Creek Kayak Launch Ramp located next to the picnic shelter across from the restrooms. If you do not have a kayak and would like to join in, let me know at 503-890-0092 or weekiwacheeanglerssecretary@gmail.com I have one single inflatable kayak and one single sit-in kayak I can borrow along with life jackets.
Weeki Wachee Anglers General Membership Meeting for the Month of September
Date and Time: Wednesday, September 3, 2026 – doors at 5:30, meeting begins at 6:30.
Location: VFW Post 10209 -14736 Edward R Noll Drive, Spring Hill Fl
Details: Guest Speaker will be “Mermaid Rita King” from Weeki Wachee Springs Park. Come and enjoy a presentation on the beauty of the Springs!
Weeki Wachee Anglers Annual Garage Sale
Date Time and Location: TBD
Details: The WWA Garage Sale is still scheduled for November however there has been a lack of interest this year and we may have to cancel the annual garage sale unless we get more interest in the next month. Please bring your items to donate toward the sale to any meeting or event. Ray Truitt will be collecting the items for the sale. All proceeds from the Garage Sale go towards the Club to help with expenses for membership discounted Thunder Fishing Trips, awards, meeting and event overhead expenses, etc.
